Applying production-oriented approach (POA) to cultivating medical students’ international academic communication abilities
基于“产出导向法”的医学生国际学术交流能力培养

摘要

“产出导向法”是由北京外国语大学文秋芳教授提出并构建的具有中国特色的外语教学理论体系,旨在改进中国大学英语教学效果。本文尝试将这一理论应用于实践,指导医学生参加科研英语演讲大赛,并提出:其一,在医学院校的英语课程中增加医学相关的产出性英语学习任务,提升医学生的语言学习兴趣和获得感。其二,把备赛、参赛的经验融入到英语课堂教学中,以医学科研项目为驱动,在英语课程中融合医学专业知识的语言学习以用促学,学以致用,培养学生国际学术交流能力,为其职业发展赋能。

Abstract

The "Production-oriented Approach" is a theoretical system of foreign language teaching with Chinese characteristics, proposed and constructed by Professor Wen Qiufang from Beijing Foreign Studies University, aiming to improve the effectiveness of college English teaching in China. This paper attempts to apply this theory to practice, guiding medical students in participating in scientific research English speech contests, and proposes the following: First, increase output-oriented English learning tasks related to medicine in the English courses of medical colleges and universities to enhance medical students' interest and sense of achievement in language learning. Second, integrate the experience of preparing for and participating in contests into English classroom teaching, driven by medical research projects, and integrate language learning of medical professional knowledge into English courses, promoting learning through use and applying what is learned, thereby cultivating students' abilities in international academic communication and empowering their career development.
