Research on the translation of ancient Chinese supernatural fiction from the perspective of translation variation theory——Taking in search of the supernatural as an example
变译理论视角下中国古代志怪小说翻译探究——以《搜神记》为例

摘要

在中国悠久的历史长河中，志怪小说作为一种独特的文学体裁，蕴含丰富的神话传说、历史信息及中国传统文化要素，是中国文化传承与发扬的重要载体。在全球化背景下，中国古代志怪小说翻译能够打开一扇让世界深入了解中国古代风俗习惯、宗教信仰及哲学思想之门，增进国际社会对中国古代社会风貌的理解，促进中国文化在国际舞台传播交流。本文旨在以黄忠廉的变译理论为基础，选取《搜神记》英译本作为研究对象，从变译规律出发，深入探讨分析中国古代志怪小说翻译过程中切实可行的策略和方法，通过探究中国古代志怪小说翻译，以期能够为中国文学作品的翻译实践以及文化输出提供有益参考，推动中国文化“走出去”，促进中国古代文学瑰宝在国际舞台大放异彩。

Abstract

In the long history of China, supernatural fiction, as a unique literary genre, contains rich mythological legends, historical information and elements of traditional Chinese culture and is an important carrier for the inheritance and promotion of Chinese culture. In the context of globalization, the translation of ancient Chinese supernatural fiction can open a door for the world to gain an in-depth understanding of the ancient Chinese customs, religious beliefs and philosophical thoughts, enhance the international community’s understanding of the social features of ancient China, and promote the spreading and exchange of Chinese culture on the international stage. Taking the English translation of In Search of the Supernatural as the research object and based on Huang Zhonglian’s translation variation theory, this paper starts from the transformation rules and conducts an in-depth exploration and analysis of the practical strategies and methods in the translation process of ancient Chinese supernatural fiction. It is expected to provide a useful reference for the translation practice of Chinese literary works and cultural output, promote Chinese culture to “go global”, and facilitate the treasures of ancient Chinese literature to shine brightly on the international stage.
