From “Being Guided” to “Acting Proactively”——The construction of agency in the sinicization of religion
从“被引导”到“主动作为”——宗教中国化进程中的主体性建构

摘要

系统推进宗教中国化是中国式现代化建设的题中应有之义，回应“激发宗教界主动作为、自我变革”的战略要求，既有研究多聚焦于“如何引导”的外部视角，对宗教界内在能动性关注不足。本文从主体性建构的视角重新审视宗教中国化的内在动力机制，并提出宗教中国化不仅是国家引导的外部过程，更是宗教界实现自我觉醒、自我革新、自我完成的能动实践。通过将哲学主体性概念转化为宗教中国化语境下的操作性定义，系统阐释了该主体性的理论内涵、生成的历史逻辑、当代建构的多维路径及其现实挑战，旨在构建一个解析宗教中国化内生动力机制的理论框架，为深化该领域的学理研究与政策实践提供参照。

Abstract

Systematically advancing the sinicization of religion is an essential component of Chinese modernization. In response to the strategic call for “stimulating proactive engagement and self-transformation within religious communities,” existing research has largely focused on external perspectives concerning “how to guide,” while paying insufficient attention to the internal agency of religious groups. This paper re-examines the internal driving mechanisms of religious sinicization from the perspective of agency construction, arguing that religious sinicization is not merely an externally guided process by the state, but also an active practice through which religious communities achieve self-awakening, self-renewal, and self-realization. By transforming the philosophical concept of agency into an operational definition within the context of religious sinicization, this study systematically elaborates on the theoretical connotations, historical logic of emergence, multidimensional pathways of contemporary construction, and practical challenges associated with such agency. It aims to establish a theoretical framework for analyzing the endogenous dynamics of religious sinicization, offering reference for deepening scholarly research and policy implementation in this field.
