Evolution of entering-tone rhymes in the Huang-Xiao cluster of Jianghuai Mandarin: A language contact perspective
从语言接触的角度谈江淮官话黄孝片入声韵的演变

摘要

本文通过对江淮官话黄孝片的方言点的描写，分析了黄孝片入声韵的演变特征。从语言接触的角度，认为黄孝片入声韵的演变与其地域上与周边方言的接触有关，是受到了中原官话的影响，同时也受到了江淮官话和客家话的影响。在入声韵演变上，由于入声字在江淮官话和客家话中都存在消失的情况，所以不存在不同方言影响下不同方言之间入声韵演变差异的问题。但由于黄孝片内部各方言点之间存在差异，这就使得入声字在黄孝片内部的演变与其周边方言有着密切的关系。通过分析黄孝片内部各方言点之间入声韵演变上存在的差异，可以推测出黄孝片内部各方言点之间可能存在着一种复杂的关系，从而影响到了黄孝片入声韵演变上存在的差异。

Abstract

This paper, through a descriptive analysis of dialectal varieties within the Jianghuai Mandarin Huang-Xiao cluster, examines the evolutionary characteristics of its entering-tone rhymes. From the perspective of language contact, it proposes that the evolution of entering-tone rhymes in the Huang-Xiao cluster is associated with regional contact with neighboring dialects, having been influenced not only by Central Plains Mandarin but also by Jianghuai Mandarin and Hakka. Regarding the evolution of entering-tone rhymes, since entering-tone characters exhibit attrition in both Jianghuai Mandarin and Hakka, no issue of inter-dialectal evolutionary divergence arises from the influence of different dialects. Nevertheless, internal variations among dialectal points within the Huang-Xiao cluster suggest that the evolution of entering-tone characters within this cluster is closely tied to its surrounding dialects. By analyzing the discrepancies in entering-tone rhyme evolution among various dialectal points within the cluster, it may be inferred that a complex interrelationship exists among these points, which in turn contributes to the observed evolutionary differences in entering-tone rhymes within the Huang-Xiao cluster.
